The next meeting of the RIH BOE is on Monday March 25, 8pm at Indian Hills High School Cafeteria. The Board is meeting in Executive Session at 5pm, three hours before.
The Superintendent Search firm closed the applications for Superintendent on March 15, so it’s likely the Executive Session will be discussing the pool of candidates. I would hope the Board will report out on, at a minimum, the size of the pool of applicants they have to choose from.
The agenda for the public meeting contains more or less routine motions, personnel items to approve Summer hours for curriculum work, renewal of contracts, including a $91k spend for an "Administrative Management Operating Software Program” and a renewal of bus contracts with a 5.81% cost increase.
It also includes a second reading on the Policy 4111 Creating Positions and Policy 1642.01 Sick Leave Policy. Both were criticized in comments from the teachers' union at the last public meeting, including comments about Dr. Baker’s ‘radical' changes and upset about the changes to the sick leave policy. There’s no evidence indicating the Board took the union’s feedback about the sick leave policy into account before the second reading.
