First Board Meeting for Interim Superintendent - Agenda Posted

The next RIH BOE meeting is tomorrow, Nov 30, at 8pm in the Ramapo High School Cafeteria. It will be the first meeting with the new Interim Superintendent, Dr. Baker.


The agenda includes:

  • A report from the external auditors, which I hope will address the $4.2 mil surplus that arose at the end of last year and has not yet been explained

  • Acceptance of the resignation of Curriculum Director Elizabeth McDermond, effective December 30

  • The appointment of a new Curriculum Director, Melissa Quackenbush, to replace Ms. McDermond, effective Jan 30-June 30, 2024 at an annual salary of $194,670 plus a $4,000 Doctorate Stipend

  • Approval of volunteer advisors for 13 new clubs

  • Approval to commission a Demographic Study. This is important information to have, but a demographic study was not part of the Strategic Plan to address enrollment disparity between the high schools.

  • $6.7 million in Capital Projects to be approved:

    •  Wellness Suites at a cost of $937,500

    •  Trainer Room and Boys Team Locker Room Renovations at a cost of $2,655,000

    •  Family & Consumer Life Sciences Room Renovations at a cost of $3,145,000

  • A change to Board Policy 0155 REMOVING the ability for Board members to request or refuse committee assignments, effectively empowering the Board President to ‘force’ Board members into committee assignments, rather than working together with Board members interests, skills or time availability.
