RIH BOE Election results - Where do we go from here?
Local elections are important to our sense of community. These are people we live amongst, interact with, and see every day. These are people whose children our children go to school with, and the teachers who teach our children. Local community is personal, and it matters.

It's fine to have differences of opinion and robust debate, that’s what makes the world a more interesting and constantly evolving place. It's what we say we want for our children, that they be taught to evaluate information, think critically, and make decisions based on facts. Divisive elections take a toll, especially locally. Most people don’t like someone knocking on their door, telling them what a terrible choice or horrible person their NEIGHBOR, the other candidate, is.
The division on the RIH BOE over the past two years has taken a toll on our community. People are tired of the division, the personal attacks, and the anger. They want a return to the “normalcy" of our local community. I don’t know that we will ever go back to what we used to have. But we can certainly try to go forward.
I think that is the message the voters sent to the RIH Board of Education. The voters did not give a mandate to the disruptive group that has run our RIH BOE for the past two years. The voters want better for our community.
We have good schools. That’s why people move to our community. I hope the 2025 RIH BOE will take this opportunity to reflect, to rethink the chaos of the past two years, and to set some goals for themselves. They have an opportunity to lead the future of our school district in a good direction. Let’s hope they lead well.
