So at tonight's RIH BOE meeting, the Board approved a new $100K Administrative position to help the new Curriculum Director do her job, a "District Instructional Design Coordinator". The position was not on the agenda when it was posted on Friday. Yet it was suddenly added to the agenda at some point over the weekend as an addendum. LACK OF TRANSPARENCY. WASTEFUL SPENDING. DOUBLE TALK.
The Board claims the $100K position was in the budget (which was approved months ago). How did some people know about this months ago, yet put this on the agenda over the weekend with no notice? (P17: Move to approve the creation of the position and job description for District Instructional Design Coordinator. The detailed job description was not shared with the public. We were only told this is budgeted for $100k salary.)
Kudos to the 4 Board members who voted AGAINST this wasteful spend, Tom Bogdansky, Brian DeLaite, Helen Koulikourdis, and Dr. Aaron Lorenz.
Thumbs down to the wasteful spenders: Kim Ansh, Marianna Emmolo, Doreen Mariani, Audrey Souders and Melissa Kiel.
With a new permanent Superintendent coming on in the next few months, why not let him/her decide if this spend is needed?
Note to candidates: Interim Superintendent Dr. Baker announced that this is a TEMPORARY POSITION.
The only other significant update from tonight's RIH BOE meeting (IMHO) was the announcement that the contract for the new Superintendent was approved by the county, and will be on the May 30 agenda. I was also told that the results of the recent Demographic Study will be presented at the May 30 meeting.
