The next meeting of the RIH BOE will be this evening, October 28 at 8pm at the Indian Hills High School Cafeteria.
The agenda includes an NJSLA Presentation by the Superintendent. The New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) are statewide assessments that assess students' progress toward the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in English Language Arts (ELA), mathematics, and science.
The agenda also includes an “ESIP Update Presentation” by the Interim Business Administrator. (ESIP = Energy Savings Improvement Plan)
Sadly, the agenda contains the resignations of two more teachers, mid-year.
Agenda Item OP2 has the Board voting on submitting a three-year Comprehensive Maintenance Plan to the NJ Department of Education, outlining required activities to keep school facilities safe and operational. It would be helpful if the Board shared this plan with the public before the meeting to allow for there to be an understanding of the scope of maintenance projects, expected costs, and how this year’s plan compares to past plans.
Agenda Item OP3, the Board will consider approving a $608,084.02 purchase of Cisco Catalyst switches and related services for a data infrastructure upgrade. Part of this purchase may be eligible for USAC E-rate Category 2 reimbursement, pending approval, this is a significant expenditure, and it would be helpful for the Board to provide more details about the project.
With respect to approval of the finance reports two large appropriation adjustments are noted:
almost $90,000 from various categories in “TEXT BKS” to “PURCH PROFESS EDUC SVCS”
almost $80,000 from “TUITION- NJ PRIVATE” to “PUR SVCS EXTRAORD” perhaps related to the NJCTL online sciences classes
The remainder of the items seem to be fairly routine motions.
Hopefully the board will appear on time, as a 9pm start like last meeting makes for a late evening.
