The next meeting of the RIH BOE is tonight, August 26th at 8pm in the Indian Hills Auditorium. New Superintendent Shauna DeMarco began on August 14th, so I assume she will be present. There is nothing on the agenda about a welcome, introduction, or meet and greet for the incoming Superintendent.

The agenda includes an NJGPA Assessment Presentation‬.

The Math and Science departments are taking a hard hit to staffing, as the agenda includes the resignation of two Science teachers and a Special Ed Mathematics teacher, and the retirement of long time Science teacher Michael Michels.

After the agenda was published on Friday evening, the following was quietly slipped onto the agenda today, just hours before the meeting:

"P14 With the approval of the Commissioner of Education, the Board approves the settlement and release agreement with # 1781"

I suspect this might be a settlement with Dr. Tarchichi, but as is typical of Kim Ansh’s BOE, the Board hides the details of what it is voting on. How can the public comment on Agenda Items, when Kim’s BOE hides what they are? The public will have to wait and read about it in the newspaper or on Facebook.

The Board is also approving the full curriculum this evening. It will be interesting to see if the Board members who have been so critical of our curriculum, including the choices of reading material, vote for it.

Also on the agenda are Professional Development Goals for staff. The BOE has not discussed or approved Board Goals for themselves in quite a long time (the Board Goals listed on the district website appear to be from 2020-2021).

As for spending, the Board is approving almost $670,000 in spending on video cameras and video surveillance upgrades. Also, the original contractor for the $2mil concession stand at Indian Hills pulled out, and a new contract bid of $2,099,000 is being approved for the snack stand with a new contractor.
